The 2nd Project Steering Committee meeting of the ITTO-BMLEH Teak project phase II “Promoting Quality Timber Production in Smallholders and Community-based Teak and Other Valuable Species Plantations in the Tropics” (PP-A/54-331A) funded by Germany’s Federal Ministry of Food and Agriculture, and Regional Identity (BMLEH), implemented through ITTO, Japan was organized from 10-12 November in Holiday Garden Hotel & Resort, Chiang Mai, Thailand. There were 47 delegates attended the meeting (online 11; onsite 36). The project phase II is being implemented in 6 participating countries in Asia Pacific (Thailand, India, Indonesia, Cambodia, Vietnam) and Togo in W. Africa. The project started off its activities since October 2023 for 3 years up to December 2026. The total budget for the project is 1.4 million US dollars.
A field excursion was also arranged on 11-12 November to the project implementation sites and teakwood industries company in Chiang Mai and to the highest mountain peak in Thailand, the Doi Inthanon National Park.
