The Second Meeting of Project Steering Committee (PSC) of the ITTO-BMLEH Teak project, “Promoting Quality Timber Production in Smallholders and Community-based Teak and Other Valuable Species Plantations in the Tropics”, 10-12 November 2025 Chiang Mai province, Thailand

The 2nd Project Steering Committee meeting of the Phase II, ITTO-BMLEH Teak project “Promoting Quality Timber Production in Smallholders and Community-based Teak and Other Valuable Species Plantations in the Tropics” (PP-A/54-331A) funded by the Federal Ministry of Food and Agriculture, and Regional Identity (BMLEH), Govt. of Germany implemented through ITTO, Japan is scheduled to begin from 10-12 November in Holiday Garden Hotel & Resort, Chiang Mai, Thailand.

The ITTO-BMLEH Teak project II phase is implemented in 6 participating countries in Asia Pacific and Togo in W. Africa which started off its activities since October 2023 for 3 years up to December 2026. The participating countries are Thailand, India, Indonesia, Cambodia, Vietnam in Asia Pacific and Togo in W. Africa. The total budget for the project is 1.4 million US dollars.

As part of the project, the 2nd Project Steering Committee (PSC) and Technical Committee Meeting (PTC) is being organized at Holiday Garden Hotel & Resort, Chiang Mai. Two field excursions are planned on 11 and 12th November 2025. On 11 November, visit to Phase II demonstration plot in Chiang Mai and to teakwood industries, SME teakwood products and visit to Silvicultural Research Center 1 under RFD. On Day 2 (12 November 2025), visit to smallholder teak plantations and to forest landscape and Doi Inthanon National Park, Chiangmai is being planned.
