PRWAC 2013 and Annual IAWS Meeting, October 17-21, 2013, Nanjing, CHINA

The 8th Pacific Regional Wood Anatomy Conference (PRWAC 2013) , combined with the Annual Meeting of the International Academy of Wood Science (IAWS-2013 ), and co-sponsored by the International Union of Forest Research Organizations (IUFRO 5.01.00), will take place in Nanjing, China, October 17-21, 2013. PRWAC is an important event organized by the International Association of Wood Anatomists (IAWA). This conference started at 1984 in Japan and has been held approximately every four years in the Philippines (1989), New Zealand (1994), Korea (1998), Indonesia (2002), Japan (2005) and Malaysia (2009).

The joint conference will be co-organized by the Pacific Regional Group of IAWA, IAWS, IUFRO 5.01.00, International Centre for Bamboo and Rattan (ICBR) and Institute of Chemical Industry of Forest Products, Chinese Academy of Forestry (ICIFP, CAF).
 
The conference sessions will address all major applications of wood anatomical research as relevant for tree biology and pathology, wood formation, ecological wood anatomy, dendrochronology and dendroclimatology, wood identification, wood quality, structure and utilization of bamboo and rattan, palaeobotany and archeology, protection of endangered timber species, wood utilization and the environment, wood culture, general wood anatomy, and classification, anatomy and utilization of Chinese rosewoods (“hongmu”). The last conference day will feature a Wood Culture excursion in and around the old capital city of Nanjing. Abstracts of contributed papers and posters should be submitted before July 15, 2013. Early registration at the reduced rate should also be before that date.
